Brian Curtis - Owner/CEO and Consulting Arborist

In 1969 Brian Curtis began his life's work as full time owner and operator of Shadywood Tree Experts. He has dedicated the past 40 + years to building relationships with clients across the western suburbs. He became a Certified Arborist from the International Society of Arboriculture in July 2003 (MN 4040-A). In his free time, Brian enjoys golfing, fishing and biking the Hennepin Trail System. His favorite tree is the American elm located in the N.W. corner of Hopkins Crossroads (Cty Rd 73) and Hwy 7, which he has voluntarily maintained since 2005. Three of his goals as owner and operator of Shadywood Tree Experts include: 1) Operating family owned business that takes pride in providing a healthy and rewarding working environment. 2) Developing long term relationships between Shadywood Tree Experts and its existing and potential clients. 3) Promoting quality tree care through sound advice, realistic expectations and safe tree care practices.

After graduating from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor's degree in English Literature in 2003, Keith returned to Shadywood Tree Experts to pursue a career in his family's business. He became certified by the International Society of Arboriculture (MN 4130-A) in 2006. Bowling, running races and playing music are only a few of his personal interests. His favorite tree in Minnesota is the white pine due to its broad limb expansion and majestic shape when at full maturity. Three of his professional goals include: 1) Promoting safety on the jobsite. 2) Providing progressive tree care advice. 3) Maintaining a friendly, fun and comfortable working environment

Chuck Madsen - PHC Division Manager and Consulting Arborist

For the past 24 years, Chuck has been passionate about providing clients with honest and realistic tree maintenance recommendations while emphasizing safety and a concern for our environment. His credentials include being an International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist (MN-0129A) since 1994 and Licensed Commercial Pesticide Applicator. Chuck is a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science degree in Urban Forestry. Married with 2 children, Chuck's interests include music, reading, the outdoors and coaching youth sports. A final note: Chuck would like to see more oak trees planted. Nothing is more stately, strong, and picturesque than the mighty oak.

John Larson has a Business Administration degree from the University of North Dakota and is an International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist (MN-4066A). John managed a retail store for 4 years after college where he got a strong customer service background. His enjoyment of trees and the outdoors led him to join Shadywood Tree Experts in 1996. John has been married for 20 years to his wife Jennifer and has 3 children. He enjoys golf whenever there is free time. His favorite tree is the white oak, a hardy tree that most people would love to have on their property.
